One of the most popular diets as of late is the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) Diet. According to an article in the May 2013 issue of the Annals of Pharmacotherapy, HCG gained popularity in the 1950s. Survivors who are overweight or obese should limit high-calorie foods and beverages and increase physical activity to help with weight loss. Eat at least 2 ½ cups of fruits and vegetables every day. Choose 100 percent whole grain foods such as 100 percent whole grain breads and cereals, brown rice, millet and quinoa. It's not uncommon to gain weight during or after cancer treatment. Weight gain may be a result of a combination of factors, including disease- or treatment-induced hormonal effects or changes.
